  • 100g of brak flour (warabiko)
  • 80g of sugar
  • 400ml of water

Sprinkles

  • 30g roasted soybean flour (kinako)
  • Black sugar syrup (kuromitsu)

How To Make Warabi Mochi Recipe

Directions

For Prep

  1. On a clean and dry baking sheet, clean a little soy flour to cover the surface. Set aside.
  2. Mix the ingredients, sugar and water into a medium pan, mix well.

For cooking

  1. Bring the mixture to a overboil medium heat.
  2. Lower the fire, stir quickly and hard with a wooden spatula, making sure to stir through the bottom of the pan. Stir for about 10 minutes or until the mixture is translucent and bubbles appear (boil).
  3. Remove from the heat and transfer the mochi to the flour tray. Clean more soy flour on top of the mochi to cover the surface. Let cool.
  4. Add more soy flour to the pan.
  5. Cut mochi into cubes and stir in soy flour to make sure all surfaces are covered.
  6. Transfer to serving dish and serve with kuromitsu.
